Why it makes a party
The best parties have a moment when everybody is doing the same thing at once. This gives you one on purpose, with the noise, the suspense and the winners that people talk about the next day.
A podium with real prizes
When the last answer is in, first, second and third step up on screen with their names, avatars and points. Set a prize for each place, or draw one at random from everybody who played, and the room finds out together.
Sound, confetti and a 3, 2, 1, go
Every quiz opens with a countdown. Right answers get a cheerful chime, the winners get a drumroll and a fanfare, and confetti falls on the phones that got it right. Sound stays off until a guest turns it on.
Guess what they'll say
Ask the room what the birthday girl, the groom or the retiree would pick, then let them choose their answer live. Everyone who knew them best scores, and the screen shows how many guests got it right.
Bet it all on the last question
Switch on the final wager and, just before the last question, every guest decides whether to stake some of their points. The leaderboard can turn round in one answer, which is exactly what you want at the end of a party.
Avatars and big moments
Guests pick an emoji or snap a selfie as they join. Get three right in a row and their phone says so. The fastest right answer and the longest run of right answers are saved to your moment afterwards.
Family far away plays too
Grandma in Lagos and your cousin in Oregon join with the same code and play along in real time. If they share where they are, the screen welcomes them by town, so the room knows who's joining from abroad.

Every question can play differently. That's where the shrieks, the groans and the last-minute comebacks come from.
Double points, or triple
Make any question worth half, double or triple points, or a number you choose. Double the final question too, so whoever's behind always has a chance to catch up.
Put double points on "Where did Grace and Tom first meet?" and watch the table that knows cheer.
Quicker answers, more points
Pick Fast and furious and a right answer earns up to 500 extra points, more the quicker it lands. Add a bonus for the first person to get each question right and every tap becomes a race.
The fastest fingers in the room find out who they are.
You set the clock
Every question starts with 15 seconds. Give the fiendish one a full minute, the easy one five seconds or switch the timer off. When time's up, answers stop.
Five seconds to name the birthday girl's first pet. Go!
And the winner is…
Third place first, then second, then a drumroll. The winner rises to the top of the podium with their avatar, their points and their prize, and confetti fills the screen. Then your closing message thanks everybody for coming.

Ask everybody for one word that sums up the person you're celebrating. As the words arrive, the most popular grow biggest and move to the middle, each in its own colour. It takes one tap to set up and it's often the part people remember.

Do guests need to download an app to play the party quiz?
No. Guests scan a code or tap a link, type a name if they like and play in their phone's browser. There's nothing to download and no account to make.
Do I need a big screen or projector?
No. Everybody can play on their own phone, and each phone shows how the room answered after every question. If you have a TV or projector, the big-screen display (on the Shine plan and up) shows the questions, the answers coming in and the podium for the whole room.
How does the word cloud work?

Can I test the quiz before the party?
Yes. Practise it first gives you a private copy to play on your own phone. If you've started the real one to try it out, reset it and it goes back to ready to play from the first question.
